Claims resulting from workplace exposure to chemical and environmental hazards cost an average of $14,469, while claims resulting from falls in the construction industry cost an average of $30,931, according to a pair of reports released by the Maine Department of Labor this week.
The Labor Department said fall injuries cost Maine employers and their insurers $1.5 million from 2011 through 2013.
A separate report says that exposure to workplace chemical and environmental hazards, such as microbes, cost a total of $665,564.22 in 2012 and 2013.
