Amerisafe Net Income Up 39% in Quarter, 40% for Year

Amerisafe, a high-hazard workers' comp insurer, reported Wednesday net income of $13.5 million during the third quarter, a 39% increase from the $9.7 million in net income reported for the third quarter of 2013. Amersafe said gross premiums written jumped to $94 million, up from $86.1 million in the prior-year quarter. The DeRidder, Louisiana-based carrier's combined ratio dropped to 86.4% during the third quarter, from 92.5% in the prior-year quarter.
