Walgreens Co. agreed to pay $5.5 million to settle claims that it overcharged the Massachusetts workers' compensation system for prescription drugs, the state's attorney general announced.
“Our office found that over many years, Walgreens overcharged workers for various legitimate prescriptions,” state Attorney General Maura Healey said in a news release. “This settlement ensures that Walgreens does not profit from those transactions and will help our state’s ongoing efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.”
