CAAA: Other States, Other States, Other States

By California Applicants' Attorneys Association

For decades, every attack on injured workers has been based on "other states don’t do what California does," "California workers’ comp is too liberal” and "California should be like other states.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom has taken the big, bold step, proudly pointing out that California ISN'T like other states and DOESN'T want to be — on choice, on climate, on trans equity.

Claiming all the ways California is different and better and fairer is new and important.

Yes, California has a progressive system that protects workers who are victimized by cumulative trauma injuries. Yes, California has a progressive system that recognizes the hazards that public safety professionals face. Yes, California recognizes that millions of workers migrate from farm to farm, from construction site to construction site, and those are the workers whose bodies break down over time.

Yes, California is different. Gov. Newsom is proud of that.

Yes, California should always work to be better. And we’ll work with Gov. Newsom to do that.
