Federal prosecutors have charged a pharmacy technician who purchased pharmaceuticals for a Boston hospital with making false statements about the income he received from the New England Compounding Center, which regulators shut down after a fungal meningitis outbreak linked to its products killed 64 and sickened 793.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Massachusetts said 40-year-old Claudio T. Pontoriero, of Everett, told federal agents that he was paid $5,000 a month from NECC and drug repackager Ameridose for consulting services.
