The Industrial Commission of Arizona said medical providers should not coerce carriers, self-insured employers and claims representatives into agreeing to pay a certain percentage of billed charges for surgery.
“The reports we received detail that these tactics are being employed at the last moment, either the day before or on the day of the scheduled surgery,” the commission’s Legal Division said in a statement. “The implication is that the surgery would be delayed or canceled if the paper is not signed.”
