Questions Raised Over State Employee Fund's Rising Drug Costs

With drug costs dropping around the nation, some stakeholders are wondering why Florida's state employee self-insured fund is seeing higher workers' compensation pharmacy expenses. "It doesn't make much sense to me," said claimants' attorney Casey Carlson of Tampa.  At a recent Florida Revenue Estimating Conference, state economists projected that the state's Risk Management Trust Fund this year will see a multi-million-dollar deficit for the second straight year.
