Maximum workers’ compensation benefits for Florida claimants will increase 3.5% on Jan. 1, to $917 per week, the Division of Workers’ Compensation said Tuesday.
Under Section 440.12(2), the maximum weekly compensation rate is set at 100% of the statewide average weekly wage, adjusted to the nearest dollar, as determined by the state Department of Economic Opportunity for the previous year ending on June 30.
The Economic Opportunity department determined that the AWW was $917.18 for the year preceding June 30.
The minimum compensation rate will remain at $20 per week, where it has stood since 1972.
