Employers Net Income Dips in 2nd Quarter

Employers Holdings reported net income of $24 million during the second quarter, down 7% from $26.8 million in the same quarter last year. For the first six months of 2017, Employers reported net income of $48 million, down 1% from $48.6 million during the first six months of last year.  Employers, based in Reno, Nevada, reported $184.5 million in gross premiums during the second quarter, down 3% from $190.6 million for the prior-year quarter.  The carrier said in-force premium in California increased by 0.5%, while it increased 1.9% outside of California.
