Alabama physician Gilberto Sanchez pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges associated with his operation of a Montgomery pill mill, the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Middle District of Alabama announced.
Sanchez unnecessarily prescribed oxycodone, hydrocodone, methadone, hydromorphone, amphetamine and fentanyl, among other substances, prosecutors said.
Arrested Aug. 1, he was charged with drug-distribution conspiracy, health care fraud and money laundering. The money laundering charge stemmed from his use of proceeds from the scheme to buy a house and a car.
