Norman Darwin’s retirement is coming two years after he originally intended.
Darwin, Texas’ Public Injured Employee Counsel since 2006, will retire from the state at the end of August, leaving behind a lauded ombudsman program at the Office of Injured Employee Counsel and the grind of operating in a workers’ compensation system that he feels is deeply unfair to injured workers.
Darwin, who turns 76 in about two weeks, told WorkCompCentral on Tuesday that if he had his way, he would’ve ended his tenure at the end of the fiscal year two years ago.
