The Lone Star State may see increased "indemnity severity" as well as increased medical claims associated with an aging workforce in coming years, research by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) indicates.
NCCI state relations executive Lori Lovgren presented the data to a state advisory forum in Austin.
Most of the forum focused on data prior to passage of House Bill 7, the 2005 reform legislation.
But the presentation also noted demographic trends in Texas which are expected to influence the workers' compensation system in future years.
