The Utah Supreme Court on Tuesday heard arguments in the Workers' Compensation Fund's lawsuit against the state, which could decide whether taxpayers own the public insurer or are just policyholders that oversee its operations, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Attorney David Jordan told the justices to think of the state as a trustee when it comes to the Workers Compensation Fund, the newspaper said. Although taxpayers have some legal right to oversee the insurer, the money isn't really theirs, he said.
