A construction laborer, a truck driver and a waitress who each claimed their injuries prevented them from returning to work were the stars of a workers' compensation fraud sweep in Nassau County where prosecutors presented video tape showing all three of them gainfully employed.
They were among nine suspects taken into custody as a result of investigations by The New York State Insurance Fund in a sweep that totaled 13 arrests. The nine NYSIF cases represent total fraud and estimated savings of approximately $700,000.
