American International Group's (AIG) chief executive, Maurice Greenberg, has issued a letter to Idaho's insurance director, Mary Hartung, protesting that a for-profit division of the Workers' Compensation Fund of Utah (WCFU) is expanding into Idaho.
AIG has asked that the Idaho Department of Insurance revoke the certificate of authority of WCFU's Advantage Workers' Compensation Insurance Co. The complaint is that WCFU/Advantage has an unfair competitive advantage due to its affiliation with a government-controlled entity. Advantage currently writes business in eight states.
