Utah PEO Shutdown: Failed to Provide Comp, Fraud

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Utah Insurance Department has issued a cease-and-desist order against American Employment Group, a professional employment organization, or PEO, because it collected $500,000 in premiums for workers' compensation but did not provide coverage. The order, issued by Insurance Commissioner Merwin Stewart, alleges that American Employment had been providing insurance for its client businesses through the Workers Compensation Fund of Utah. When that policy was terminated in April, American Employment continued to collect workers' compensation insurance premiums...
