Jury Awards $1.9M to Coal Miner

A Boone County jury awarded a Boone County coal miner a $1.9 million verdict, the Charleston Daily Mail reported. George M. Peters won the verdict last week. He alleged that Rivers Edge Mining Co., a subsidiary of Peabody Coal Co., retaliated against him after he was hurt on the job. Peters broke his arm in October 2003 while working in an underground mine, the newspaper reported. For about four months, Peters continued working with his arm in a cast.
