A claimants' attorney based in Salisbury has been named deputy commissioner at the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the commission announced this week.
Tiffany Mack Smith, who has handled workers' comp, personal injury and Social Security disability cases, was named one of the 24 deputy commissioners who decide claims disputes that cannot be resolved in mediation. Deputy commissioners' decisions can be appealed to the full Industrial Commission.
