Work Injuries Decline 3.6% in 2014, but Fatalities Spike

Occupational injuries in Kansas declined 3.6% in fiscal year 2014, while on-the-job fatalities jumped 68.6%. There were 53,997 occupational injuries in the state in 2014, down from 56,009 the year prior, according to data from the Kansas Department of Labor's 40th annual statistical report for workers' compensation. That number has decreased 16.6% since 2005, when there were 64,761 accidents. The rate of accidents per 100 workers decreased 4.8% from 2013 to 2014.
