Florida employers have paid more than $74 million in benefits on nearly 38,000 claims related to COVID-19 since the pandemic started last year, according to the latest report from the Division of Workers’ Compensation.
Self-insured governmental agencies paid $37.5 million on 15,046 claims filed since January 2020, according to the report. Privately insured employers had more claims, at 18,448, but total payments were lower at $29.6 million. Private self-insured employers paid a total of $7.1 million on 4,472 claims.
