A bus driver in Milwaukee has filed a workers’ compensation claim for trauma after seeing a police officer shoot a threatening passenger, according to WDTV Milwaukee TV news.

The driver said she had flagged down Brown Deer police officers after a passenger started arguing with her about a transfer fee and became threatening. After police removed the passenger from the bus, an altercation ensued, resulting in the shooting of the passenger, who survived, and injuries to the two officers.

The bus driver’s husband told the TV station that the incident had forced his wife to relive a past traumatic experience and that she had trouble sleeping. Her doctor had advised her not to drive and that she not be left alone

The president of the bus driver’s union told the TV station that 95% of bus drivers' workers’ compensation claims are denied, but a spokesman for the Milwaukee County Transportation Service said that 88% were actually approved last year.
