The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined an Arkansas sawmill $218,759 for safety violations the agency said its inspectors uncovered following a worker’s death.
A 39-year-old worker at Anthony Timberlands Inc. was cleaning around and beneath an automated lumber stacking machine in February 2023 when a hoist table fell on him. OSHA said it learned the company installed the machine without barrier devices to prevent employees from entering the area beneath the stacker hoist.
