Ventura Worker Arrested for Fraud

The Los Angeles Times reported today in the Ventura County section (B) that the district attorney's office has filed charges against Jose Suarez Garibay, 22, Oxnard, for workers' compensation fraud. Garibay alleged that he hurt his ankle at work when it actually happened during a basketball game. He filed for workers' compensation benefits in September 1999, reporting that he had slipped on a ladder injuring his ankle while workking for the California Conservation Corps. Garibay faces up to five years in prison and a $50,000 fine....
