Prospective Juror Lied about Pre-Existing Condition, Prosecutors Say

A Southern California man who filed a workers’ compensation claim for an injury he allegedly sustained on his way to jury duty was charged with fraud for denying during a deposition the existence of a pre-existing condition, the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office announced. Scott P. Masters, 68, said he fell and injured his left knee while walking from a parking lot to the jury assembly room in the Barstow courthouse in October 2010.
