WCC Feature Use - Archived Newsletters

Friday, July 3, 2009 | 0

There is so much here at WorkCompCentral that I forget how much there is.

To make matters worse, I have become complacent with all of these features. I am so comfortable getting around the site that I assume others also know everything that is available. Then I will poke around looking for something and stumble upon a feature that I forgot about.

As I stumbled around the other morning I realized one very cool feature that most folks don't know exists, or how much FUN it is! This is the past newsletter feature.

All past newsletters are archived and available, and the articles in the newsletters are likewise linked.

It's cool to go back to, say, January 2005 (specifically January 20, 2005) and see this headline: "CAAA Sues State to Enjoin PDRS." I love history, even recent history so poking around and seeing what was topical for the day is a lot of fun.

How to find this fascinating feature?

Easy there are two ways to get to archived newsletters. One: Click on News from the main horizontal menu. On the next page you will see a link above the headlines "Archived Newsletters". Click "Archived Newsletters" and you're at the main page for, you guessed it, archived newsletters. Second: Click on Law from the main horizontal menu. Then click on "Past Newsletters". You will then go to the archived newsletters page.

The next part is the fun part - you can either use the drop down menus for a specific date, or click on Calendar for a range of dates. Calendar defaults to the present year, but there are links at the top of that page going back to 2004. Click on a year, then click on any date in the year that is presented and, voila, the newsletter for that date is displayed.

Since there is no newsletter produced on Saturday, Sunday or holidays those days will not provide any newsletter results.

Once you have an archived newsletter, you can then click on any story to read the full text (assuming you are a subscriber to our news).

Take a trip back in time! It's fun and also interesting to read what was going on just a few years ago.
