School Employee Allegedly Worked as DJ While Collecting Comp Benefits

An employee of a Northern California school district was arraigned on fraud charges for allegedly working as a disc jockey while receiving workers’ compensation benefits for a lower back injury. Jonathan Jovel worked as a paraeducator in San Mateo County. In October 2021, he complained of low back pain from working all day and, possibly, from picking up a box of string cheese, Intercare Insurance Holdings Insurance Services Inc. said.
