Zenith National Insurance Corp. reported a 46% jump in first-quarter profit over a year ago, the Woodland Hills-based workers' compensation carrier said late Thursday.
Earnings from California workers' compensation premiums declined 14% from the same period a year ago, which Zenith attributed to rate decreases in the state.
Overall, workers' compensation earnings fell about 9.5% in the first quarter.
