Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher said Thursday he may decide next week whether to have the state take over AIK Comp, the self-insurance group fund that is $39 million in the red and wants to retroactively access its members, a move that some say will bankrupt a number of businesses in the state.
Fletcher told reporters at a news conference in the capitol that there is an "apparently impending insolvency."
