The U.S. Supreme Court today is scheduled to review a case that ignited when New York state lawmakers closed a fund for reopened cases in 2013 and left carriers with $1.6 billion in liabilities that insurers say they never charged premiums for.
After the review conference, the court could announce as soon as next week whether it will hear oral arguments in American Economy Insurance Co., et al. v. State of New York, attorneys in the case said.
