The National Council on Compensation Insurance is proposing to start including COVID-19 claims with accident dates on or after July 1 in experience rating calculations.
During the pandemic, NCCI excluded from experience rating the costs of COVID-19 claims with accident dates on or after Dec. 1, 2019.
NCCI said in its filing that COVID-19 claims should not be reported with the “Catastrophe Number 12” code starting July 1, and the costs of these claims should be used when calculating an employer’s experience rating, or X-mod.
