As the Business and Industry Committee of the Texas House of Representatives continues to study the issue of worker misclassification, a new estimate of the state’s misclassified worker rate is being considered too high, too low or perhaps about right.
The Austin-based Workers Defense Project is one entity awaiting the Business and Industry Committee’s interim report, in which the committee will reveal the results of its legislative off-year study of employee misclassification, as well as other interim charges.
