Zenith National Insurance Corp. reported higher second-quarter net income on the strength of its workers' compensation business and investment income, the California-based carrier said Monday.
Underwriting income before tax from workers' compensation business for the second quarter was $73.8 million vs. $42.8 million for the same period a year ago. For the six months ended June 30, underwriting income before tax for workers' comp business was $139.1 million compared to $84 million. Those figures exclude investment income.
