The San Francisco Business Times reported Friday that Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health are aggressively setting up medical provider networks (MPNs) in response to SB 899, and expect significant profitability from these operations.
Kaiser operates 49 occupational health centers statewide and treats about 100,000 injured workers annually according to the report. Sutter Health operates 26 hospitals in Northern California, 12 occupational health clinics in the region, and provides industrial medicine services to 15,000 employers in the state.
