The board at Zurich Financial Services Group has extended Chief Executive Officer James Schiro's contract to 2009, the group has announced.
Schiro's new contract would expire in December 2009. He took over leadership of the global insurer in 2002.
Zurich board Chairman Manfred Gentz said: "James is respected as an articulate and forceful leader, both for Zurich and our industry, and we trust that he will bring the group ever closer to fulfilling our ambition of becoming a leading global insurer."
