A worker for the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services is facing fraud charges for allegedly failing to report that she was working while receiving workers’ compensation benefits, according the Chief State’s Attorney announced.

Andrea Acevedo, 34, was charged Thursday with one count of filing a fraudulent claim and one count of larceny.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Acevedo collected $6,331.80 in indemnity benefits and another $1,266.89 in medical benefits after claiming she injured her thumb giving a DDS client a bath in 2016.

“Subsequent investigation found discrepancies in the actual cause of the injury and also determined that Acevedo failed to report that she was working and earning wages while collecting the disability benefits, the warrant states,” the according to a statement.
