PRIUM's Mark Pew will speak at the 2016 CLM Annual Conference

The conference takes place April 6-8 in Orlando

Orlando (March 30, 2016) - Mark Pew, senior vice president of PRIUM, will speak at the 2016 Claims & Litigation Management Alliance Annual Conference. PRIUM, a medical intervention company specializing in pain management for injured workers, is also a silver sponsor of the event.

Pew will participate in the "Putting the Cow Back in the Barn" panel, offering solutions for addressing and curbing harmful, excessive medical treatment on workers' compensation claims. The title is a colloquialism for how claims can become catastrophic over time for both the employer and employee. Pew will join Defense Attorney Bill Austill and Patricia Brookey, vice president of the managed care division of PMA Companies, in an interactive session.

The presentation will offer proactive measures, such as appropriate doctor selection and active medical management, to keep the “cow” from getting out of the barn. It will cover the various ways the cow gets out of the barn, including inattention to details, poor treatment choices, attorney representation, and fraud. Panelists will then discuss the impacts of a run-away claim along with strategies for regaining control and putting the cow back in the barn. Anecdotes from real claims will highlight best practices and lessons learned.

"We will encourage audience participation," Pew said. "Our seasoned panel, surrounded by experienced claims managers and attorneys, should provide an excellent selection of shared experiences."

The session will start at 3:25 p.m. on April 7 during the 2016 CLM Annual Conference, which will be held April 6-8 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.
