W.R. Berkley Profit Holds Steady at $109M in Q2

W. R. Berkley Corp. has reported net income for the second quarter of $109 million, about the same as the net income for the same quarter of last year. For the first half of the year, net income was $232 million, up 1.7% from $228 million in the first half of 2016. Net premiums written in the second quarter were $1.56 billion, down 4.8% from $1.64 billion in the prior-year quarter. For the first half of the year, net premiums written were $3.21 billion, down 2.9% from $3.31 billion during the same period last year.
