Businesses operating alcohol or drug abuse recovery and treatment facilities in California would be required to carry workers’ compensation coverage, under a recently introduced bill.
Assembly Bill 1158, by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, D-Laguna Beach, would also prohibit treatment facilities from using self-insurance to provide comp coverage.
The measure would also require recovery homes to carry commercial general liability insurance and commercial auto policies with a minimum coverage of $1 million for bodily injury or property damage.
