Bill Would Mandate Comp Coverage for Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities

Businesses operating alcohol or drug abuse recovery and treatment facilities in California would be required to carry workers’ compensation coverage, under a recently introduced bill. Assembly Bill 1158, by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, D-Laguna Beach, would also prohibit treatment facilities from using self-insurance to provide comp coverage.
