California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office announced that a defendant who pleaded guilty to multiple felonies relating to an eight-year tax fraud and insurance scheme paid $2.4 million in restitution before his arraignment last week.
Thomas Cheung made the restitution payment Thursday, the state’s top prosecutor said. Cheung is expected to be sentenced to 16 months in prison in January under the terms of his plea agreement.
