Thursday, November 3, 2022 | 0

Major pharmacy chains CVS, Walgreens and Walmart agreed to pay about $13.8 billion to resolve lawsuits alleging they mishandled opioid drugs, according to a report by Reuters.

CVS agreed to pay about $5 billion over the next 10 years, according to the report, while Walgreens agreed to pay about $5.7 billion over 15 years. Walmart, meanwhile, agreed to pay $3.1 billion.

Neither CVS nor Walgreens admitted any wrongdoing. Walmart did not respond to requests for comment.

Reuters reported that CVS and Walgreens said their deals will not be final until some non-monetary terms are settled.
