The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries announced that it levied nearly a half-million dollars in fines against two asbestos removal contractors for exposing workers to extremely hazardous conditions.
The department also said it is attempting to decertify the companies to prevent them from doing asbestos removal work in the future.
L&I said it cited ACKS Demo and Abatement LLS, of Stanwood, for $261,924. The agency said it cited DHC Construction LLC, of Burien, for $221,048. Both companies are appealing the fines.
