California Senate committees on Monday passed a bill that would require certain contractors to purchase comp coverage, and another to extend a post-traumatic stress disorder presumption to state hospital and developmental service workers.
The Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee voted 12-0 to pass Senate Bill 216, by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, which would require all concrete, heating, air conditioning and tree service contractors to carry comp insurance even if they have no employees.
