Some small businesses with just one employee would be exempt from workers' compensation coverage requirements, under a measure passed by the New Jersey Senate on Monday.
The Senate, by a vote of 39-0, approved Senate Bill 967, which decrees that owners of “S” corporations who are the only shareholders shall not be considered employees for workers' comp purposes.
