Worker Awarded $3.6 Million in Damages in Comp Retaliation Lawsuit

Marion resident Larry Holland last week was awarded $3.6 million in punitive damages in a workers' compensation retaliation lawsuit against Schwan’s Home Service, the Benton Evening News reported Thursday.The newspaper said a 1st Judicial Circuit Court jury in Benton concluded that corporate officials fired Holland for seeking medical care after an August 2008 injury.Holland's attorney, Tom Crosby, said Holland, who was Schwan’s West Frankfort facility supervisor, "worked through a back injury" until January 2009, when doctors told Holland to cut back hours, the Evening New...
