Worker Gets Award for Hearing Loss, Plus Penalties, Fees

A Louisiana appellate court upheld an award of benefits to a worker for his hearing loss, as well as an award of penalties and attorney fees. Case: Shreve v. Bio-Lab Inc., No. 24-228, 12/11/2024, published. Facts: Stanley Shreve began working for Olin Corp. Inc. in 1979. Olin later became Bio-Lab Inc. Shreve spent almost 38 years working at the same plant before retiring in 2017. Shreve experienced a progressive decline in his hearing, as shown by historical audiograms starting in 1983.
