A California lawmaker recently amended a bill to propose adding firefighters at airports and other federal facilities to seven different presumptions covering everything from hernias to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections.
Sen. John Laird, D-Santa Cruz, in January introduced SB 230, which proposed adding firefighters at commercial airports that are regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration to the presumption in Labor Code Section 3212.1 that cancer arose out of employment.
