The U.S. House of Representatives last week passed legislation mandating an extensive set of new regulations governing explosive dust hazards, following a fatal Feb. 7 explosion at the Imperial Sugar Refinery in Savannah, Ga.In the Georgia accident, eight people died in the refinery and four others died later in the hospital of severe burn injuries. An estimated 35 others were injured.H.R. 5522, which passed the House by a vote of 247-165 on Wednesday, mandates that the Secretary of Labor promulgate an interim final standard regulating combustible dust 90 days after the bill is signed into law...
