Companies caught misclassifying workers as independent contractors would be barred from doing business with the state for five years, under a bill introduced in the Pennsylvania House.
House Bill 173, sponsored by Rep. Thomas Caltagirone, D-Reading, would increase the penalties for misclassification and prohibit convicted company owners from bidding on state contracts under a new business name.
