NYCIRB Report Suggests COVID Claims Could Be Fewer Than Once Feared

COVID-19 workers' compensation cases through mid-June could result in hundreds of claims that will cost New York insurers more than $75 million in hospitalization expenses, according to research from the state's rating board. The New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board's research paper, released late last month, includes estimates that are far lower than those in a legislative analysis report it published in March, based on an infection rate of 60%.
