The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation announced that the owner of a truck recovery and repair business was ordered to pay $7,630 in restitution after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor fraud charge.
The bureau said Rachhpal Singh's work comp policy had been in a lapsed status for a decade when he submitted payroll true-ups and policy year premiums in 2022 to become eligible for a reinstatement payment plan.
The reinstatement plan required a $20,000 down payment and monthly payments of $1,000. Singh did not make the down payment or sign the payment plan contract.
